An Evening With Artist Stephanie Skolik

October 14

7 pm

Starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, the evening will feature an exhibition by Skolik, whose works have been shown at the Jewish Sport Center in Mexico, at NASA's Space Camp and in Brussels, Belgium.

A well-known ophthalmologist in Huntington and president and CEO of the Huntington Retina Center, Skolik has long decorated her office with a fresh rotating selection of some of the more than 750 paintings she has created, and her work was featured in a 2014 retrospective exhibit "Inner and Outer Vision: The Paintings of Stephanie A. Skolik, M.D." at The Huntington Museum of Art. That exhibition drew international acclaim as Skolik made some of the works multi-sensory using Braille labels, QR codes which, when scanned, audibly describe the paintings, as well as reliefs, or clay-cast replicas, so visitors could enjoy the exhibit using multiple senses including vision, hearing and touch.

While folks will be able to enjoy a sizable exhibition of her paintings on Saturday, they also will be able to interact with Skolik who will be taking suggestions for the improvised painting as well as discussing her career as an artist while she works.

There will be assorted wines and light refreshments served at this free event. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on her made-on-the-spot painting.

Please RSVP to Samuel Kincaid at kincaid@marshall.edu or text or call 304-617-2607 with the number of people in your party.
