Beat the Chill One Cup at a Time
January 15, 2026When the temperatures drop and the chill of winter sets in, there’s nothing quite like a nice, hot cup of joe to warm the soul.
In the Huntington area, you can get your coffee fix around every other corner, and the brews just taste better because they’re local.
From the rich, bold flavors you’ll drink to the friendly, smiling faces that will greet you, your cup (or your mug) will always runneth over when you stop in one of our local coffee shops.
Let’s take a look at the local spots that keep our area warm all year long.
Hill Tree Roastery

At Hill Tree Roastery, every cup is brewed with a whole lot of time, effort and care. This small batch coffee roastery, located at 6326 E Pea Ridge Rd., offers fresh, single-origin coffees sourced from family farms.
Before your coffee hits your lips, the Hill Tree team has roasted it with their very own roasting profiles to capture the optimal flavors that will ensure you’re receiving a premium coffee.
Grab a fresh cup in-store, then purchase a bag of roasted-to-order coffee beans to take home!
Grindstone Coffeeology
Although Grindstone Coffeeology got its start as a food truck in 2016, it has grown into an ever-expanding Huntington staple.
Located at 816 8th St., Grindstone is a cozy coffee shop with a quaint lounge and open-seating area that is perfect for a stop on a sunny day. In 2021, the Grindstone team added a storefront in the Huntington Mall, and in 2024, an onsite bakery to their main shop.
This Australian-owned shop offers world-class coffees and other specialty drinks, as well as an all-day brunch menu with pastries and sandwiches.

Twelvepole Trading Post

At Twelvepole Trading Post, you’ll come for the coffee and leave with a host of other local goods.
Twelvepole Trading Post is a locally-sourced cafe and farm market serving up made-from-scratch menu items at 524 Hendricks St. in Wayne. This seasonally-inspired shop is constantly adding specials to their coffee list, as well as brewing the classics.
Their iced lattes will make you glad you made the trip, and, luckily, they’ve bottled up their housemade syrups so you can take the taste of Twelvepole home with you!
The Old Village Roaster
A local favorite since 1995, The Old Village Roaster is a timeless spot that promises to bring you the best coffee, atmosphere and service with every visit.

For 30 years, the owners of The Old Village Roaster have roasted their coffee beans in-house and filled orders for the Huntington community with a smile.
The delicious smell of the roastery, located at 919 4th Ave., fills the streets every day as they prepare a number of gourmet coffees for their loyal customers.
Vera Cafe
Vera Cafe just arrived on the Huntington coffee scene last summer, and it has been all the rave ever since!

Located at 2005 10th Ave., Vera Cafe brings you a comfortable environment where you can enjoy your coffee, socialize with friends, or work remotely. While you’re there, you’ll enjoy a unique culinary experience with locally roasted, internationally sourced coffees and decadent breakfast and lunch options.
If you haven’t tried Vera Cafe out yet, this is your sign to go get a specialty coffee and a sweet or savory crepe – or both!
Nomada Bakery
Nomada Bakery may have been voted USA Today’s #1 Best Cake Shop in 2025, but what’s a piece of cake without a little coffee?
Located at 210 11th St., Nomada brings flavors from all around the globe right into Heritage Station. Their breakfast and lunch menu items are internationally-inspired, and their coffees are brewed with locally-roasted beans.
We may be biased since they’re our neighbor, but we think Nomada is the perfect spot to sip after you shop. Their pastry case will have you at “hello!”

Cicada Books & Coffee

What’s more cozy than a coffee shop in the winter? A coffee shop in a bookstore in the winter!
At Cicada Books & Coffee, the baristas are happy to handcraft your drink and recommend your book. Located at 604 14th St. W, Cicada radiates warmth and good vibes throughout Central City.
P.S., we won’t tell anyone how many coffees you buy as you spend all day nuzzled up in a book at Cicada this chilly season.
Butter It Up
There’s just something about a coffee where all of the ingredients are locally sourced or housemade, and at Butter It Up, they know all about it.

Butter It Up is a farm-to-table cafe located at 809 3rd Ave., inside The Market. This delicious, nutritious spot is committed to serving you the highest quality grass-fed and natural products on the market. As a bonus, they have several options for those with dietary restrictions!
Many of their drip coffees contain housemade butter and sauces, as well as local cream. Iced or hot, their brews will leave you feeling wholesome and refreshed.
Jack & The Bean Coffee Company

Jack & The Bean Coffee Company may sound like a coffee shop straight out of a fairytale, but the delightful experience you’ll have at this spot is 100% real.
Located at 1404 Poplar St. in Kenova, Jack & The Bean is a mission-driven coffee shop and catering service dedicated to increasing the employment rate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Jack & The Bean is currently only open from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. every Wednesday, so be sure to mark them on your calendar soon! You’re sure to leave with a smile and a great cup of coffee.
Wherever your commute may take you, next time you need your morning coffee, consider stopping in at one of these local shops, where each sip is unique but all are brewed with love.
