2020 Fly In Festival Kayak/Float Trip

August 29 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

On Saturday August 29th there will be a Kayak / Float Trip down the Ohio River, guided by Evan Young & the Appalachian Boarding Company, and Dave Lavender, ending on the banks of the Robert Newlon Airpark during the 2020 FLY IN FESTIVAL.
**You MUST purchase either a Single Day or Weekend Pass for the Fly In Festival, to take part in this trip and enter the Festival Grounds. **

Due to the success past float trips, we have partnered with Evan Young of Appalachian Boarding Company. They are fully certified as Guides, Instructors, and Emergency Rescue. Appalachian Boarding Company is your 1 Stop Shop for everything boarding related. They rent and sell Kayaks, Canoes, and equipment. They also provide instruction and paddling lessons. And they guide several trips in the region throughout the year. Appalachian Boarding will be spending the entire weekend with us at the Fly In Festival, and will have a booth set up in the vendor area of the Fly In Festival to provide activities and rental of equipment throughout the entire weekend.

Paddlers will have two (2) options depending on how long they want to paddle, and/or their experience level.

Option 1:
Launch will be around 10:00 am on Saturday August 29th at Riverview Drive, which is just past Hillbilly Hot Dogs. The distance from here is approximately 3.5 Miles to the shore of the Fly In Festival. There is no parking at this launch point, it is only a drop off/staging point, but an easy launch. You will either need to make your own arrangements to have someone drive your vehicle back to the Fly In, or we can offer assistance with driving your vehicle back to the Fly In so it will be there when you arrive back on shore.

Option 2: (For experienced paddlers)
Launch from the Greentbottom Public Boat Ramp which is approximately 9 miles to the Riverview Drive launch point, and 13 miles total to the shores of the Fly In Festival. There is parking available at the Greenbottom Ramp, and you will want to launch at an earlier time, as to meet up at the Riverview Drive launch and join the rest of the group (if you wish) at 10 am to continue the last 3.5 miles to the Fly In Festival.

The Fly In Festival features 2 full days of live music, jamming, skydiving, airplane tours, camping, food, and vendors. Tickets are $50 for the weekend, or $35 per day, and camping is $20 for the entire weekend. Tickets to the festival can be purchased at the gate, or in advance at

Visit the Fly In Festival facebook page or for more information. For questions specific to the Kayak Trip, please contact Appalachian Boarding Company
