The Black Sacred Music Festival, Incorporated, in partnership with Marshall University is hosting the 12th Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Huntington, West Virginia, on the campus of Marshall University, March 9 – 11, 2018.
The purpose of the Black Sacred Music Festival is: to instill and preserve the pride and positive attitude toward the different trends, historical background and styles of all areas of Black Sacred Music in its authentic expression and its influence on American culture and secular music; to provide excellent instruction, demonstrations, and participation in performing the varied styles of Black Sacred Music; to present music and history using characters of the past, while using shared experiences to relate to music of the present; and to reach out to not just the Black community but all communities interested in learning more about the history, message and movement of gospel music as well as preserve its meaningful value to American culture as it continues to inspire across genres.
