DESCRIPTION:Marshall University’s College of Science\, in partnership with West Virginia Science Adventures\, will again be offering summer science camps for students in kindergarten through fifth grade in June and July. \nSummer Camps for children in grades kindergarten through second grade are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.\, and camps for children in third through fifth grades are from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $145 per camp\, or $120 for children of Marshall students and employees. A $50 discount is offered to those who sign up for all four camps: \nThe schedule is as follows: \nVillage Quest Camp – June 16-20 \nWhether crafting amazing structures\, exploring exciting new worlds or teaming up for exciting challenges\, there’s something for everyone at this camp\, which is perfect for young Minecraft fans who want to learn new skills\, make new friends and unleash their imagination in the blocky universe of Minecraft. \nExplorers Camp – June 23-27 \nThis hands-on camp invites young explorers to dive into the wonders of science through fun experiments and discoveries. From uncovering the mysteries of biology to exploring the magic of chemistry and physics\, children will ignite their curiosity and creativity. Perfect for kids who love to ask questions\, get their hands dirty and explore the world of science \nFins\, Fur & Feathers Camp – July 14-18 \nChildren can dive into the fascinating world of animals and learn all about their biology\, behavior\, and ecosystems. The Wax Shadows is an all-original duo\, whose music integrates elements of alternative rock and punk\, with good ol’ Appalachian holler infused melodies and groove. The Wax Shadows consists of Billy Rutherford on lead vocals and guitar\, and Bert Hoopes on bass and vocals. Billy Rutherford is a Huntington native\, while Bert Hoopes was born and raised in CA. The Wax Shadows is a recent incarnation. But Billy and Bert have been writing and playing together for years. They each share similar musical interests and influences. Yet\, each brings their own style and persona to the music. Both live for a singable hook-on top of a driving rock and punk inspired foundation. You like lots of distorted guitar and big\, sweet harmonies? You’re in for a treat. 2022 found Billy and Bert sampling their newest projects at stages around the Huntington\, WV area to immediate positive reaction and acclaim. Since 2023 they have been playing at venues and events around Huntington and Charleston\, WV as the Wax Shadows\, playing all their original songs\, sprinkled with some alternative rock classics served up in a way only the Wax Shadows can do. How can a band rock so hard and sweet with only two players? Well\, it turns out that Billy and Bert also write\, play\, record\, and produce their own music. How they play it on the record is how they play it live!\nCome play in the Shadows!!
