SUMMARY:WV Filmmakers Guild Social at Bahnhof
DESCRIPTION: WV FILM OFFICE and the WEST VIRGINIA FILMMAKERS GUILD in association with APPALACHIAN FILM FESTIVAL present A Wunderbar Social\n\nWe are coming to Huntington! Our mission is quite simple. We need to build a network of film industry professionals within the state. Productions are eyeing West Virginia and the interest continues to grow. It’s important that we give it our best foot forward\, connect\, and build our network as soon as possible.\nAs part of the 2025 WVFG state meet and greet tour\, we are calling all filmmakers\, storytellers\, and creatives to join us. The WV Film Office and West Virginia Filmmakers Guild are joining with the Appalachian Film Festival to make this gathering a unique opportunity to connect with fellow filmmakers in the area\, exchange ideas\, and build our network.\n\nThis is not just for filmmakers! We are looking for real estate agents to help secure locations\, electricians\, carpenters\, drivers\, and yes\, actors interested in background work. It takes a village to make a film. For those that are curious\, you are more than welcome to attend.\n\nGUEST SPEAKERS\n* David Lavender from the WV Film Office – the latest updates on the WV film industry.\n*Tijah Baumgardner from the Marshall Film Program – for the aspiring filmmakers\, there’s a program available right here in your backyard!\n\nWe hope that all those in the area can stop by and say hello. You Charleston folks aren’t too far away and that goes for the Kentucky peeps as well.\nMake a weekend out of it! The Appalachian Film Festival will be active all day Saturday\, April 26\, at the Foundry Theatre. Catch some of the latest films out of WV and don’t forget to swing by our booth and say hey. Carpe diem. Rain or shine\, there shall be snacks.

SUMMARY:Wrinkled Whiskers #7
DESCRIPTION:JULY 18th in Huntington WV!!! The Wax Shadows is an all-original duo\, whose music integrates elements of alternative rock and punk\, with good ol’ Appalachian holler infused melodies and groove. The Wax Shadows consists of Billy Rutherford on lead vocals and guitar\, and Bert Hoopes on bass and vocals. Billy Rutherford is a Huntington native\, while Bert Hoopes was born and raised in CA. The Wax Shadows is a recent incarnation. But Billy and Bert have been writing and playing together for years. They each share similar musical interests and influences. Yet\, each brings their own style and persona to the music. Both live for a singable hook-on top of a driving rock and punk inspired foundation. You like lots of distorted guitar and big\, sweet harmonies? You’re in for a treat. 2022 found Billy and Bert sampling their newest projects at stages around the Huntington\, WV area to immediate positive reaction and acclaim. Since 2023 they have been playing at venues and events around Huntington and Charleston\, WV as the Wax Shadows\, playing all their original songs\, sprinkled with some alternative rock classics served up in a way only the Wax Shadows can do. How can a band rock so hard and sweet with only two players? Well\, it turns out that Billy and Bert also write\, play\, record\, and produce their own music. How they play it on the record is how they play it live!\nCome play in the Shadows!!
