SUMMARY:HMA’s 5th Annual Fine Art Auction
DESCRIPTION:The Huntington Museum of Art will conduct its 5th Annual Fine Art Auction fundraiser on Sunday\, Nov. 1\, 2020\, at 2 p.m. as an online event. The more than 200 works included in the sale were supplied by private donors\, living artists\, as well as a number of galleries doing business with the museum. The museum is proud again to be partnering with Garth’s Auctioneers & Appraisers of Columbus\, Ohio\, for this event. \n“This year’s Fine Art Auction will be an online event and we have gathered a great collection of works this year\,” said HMA Executive Director Geoffrey K. Fleming. “Although bidding for this auction will take place online\, we plan to have the artworks on display at the Huntington Museum of Art a few days in advance of the event for local patrons to see the works in person. There will also be an online catalog on invaluable.com where a photo of each work can be viewed.” \nVisitors to HMA will be able to preview in person the items in the online Art Auction during regular hours on Oct. 29-31\, 2020. Bidding on certain lots in the auction will start as low as $25. Regional artists whose work will be included in the sale are the noted cameo glass artist Kelsey Murphy and the late Marshall University art professor Stan Sporny. \nPlease note that the invaluable buyer’s premium is 15% added to all successful bids. \n“Like all arts institutions\, many of HMA’s regular fundraisers have been canceled\, which makes it harder for us to deliver enriching art experiences to the public. The art auction is one of the few we can still have safely\,” Fleming said. “Please consider bidding in this year’s auction.” \nA significant amount of proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the Huntington Museum of Art. For more information on events at HMA\, visit www.hmoa.org or call (304) 529-2701. HMA is fully accessible.

SUMMARY:Holiday Preview at the Huntington Museum of Art
DESCRIPTION:Because of COVID-19 concerns\, the Huntington Museum of Art Museum Store will change its Holiday Preview from a single day to a six-day event to limit the number of people in attendance at any time. Beginning\, Tuesday\, Nov. 3\, and running through Sunday\, Nov. 8\, 2020\, the Holiday Preview will offer a chance to get an early start on holiday shopping while focusing on social distancing. \n During the six-day Holiday Preview Sale\, Museum Members are eligible for a one-time savings of 20 percent on purchases\, including consignment items.  \n “The Huntington Museum of Art wants to continue the tradition of offering a Holiday Preview in the Museum Store and thought that expanding the number of days for the event will allow people to visit and maintain social distancing\,” said HMA Executive Director Geoffrey K. Fleming. “This event offers a significant savings to Museum Members as we do not ordinarily offer discounts on consignment art works.” \n During the Holiday Preview\, decorations and gift items will be highlighted along with artwork by regional artists. In addition\, the Museum Store features estate jewelry\, apparel\, scarves\, books\, toys and more. \n Visitors to the Holiday Preview will be able to visit the C. Fred Edwards Conservatory and HMA’s current exhibits as well. Free Tuesdays in 2020 are generously sponsored by Macy’s.\n In the interest of health and safety for our staff and visitors\, HMA is requiring everyone to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. HMA will not be able to offer refreshments during the 2020 Holiday Preview. \nIn addition\, to limit the number of visitors inside the Museum at the same time\, HMA is using the online ticketing system Eventbrite. This is a FREE service\, and visitors can easily acquire tickets using their smartphone\, tablet or home computer. Anyone needing assistance with this process can call the Museum at (304) 529-2701 for help booking tickets. For Member Mornings Eventbrite tickets\, visit https://www.eventbrite.com or www.hmoa.org. For free general admission Eventbrite tickets\, visit https://www.eventbrite.com or www.hmoa.org \nFor the time being\, the Museum will not have evening hours on Macy’s Free Tuesdays and will be closed between the hours of noon and 1 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for cleaning.   \nFrom Tuesday to Friday\, morning visits will be reserved for Museum Members\, while anyone may visit from 1 to 5 p.m. during regular weekday afternoon hours and 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday (closed noon to 1 p.m. for cleaning) and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. HMA is closed to the public on Mondays. For more information\, visit www.hmoa.org or call (304) 529-2701.
