The American Printing House for the Blind (APH) is the world’s largest nonprofit organization creating accessible products and programs designed to support the educational\, workplace\, and independent living needs of people who are blind or visually impaired. Established in 2020\, APH Huntington provides access technology trainings and community learning opportunities addressing the needs of people with vision loss in Huntington and the surrounding area. \nThe 2022 APH Huntington Impactful Living Summit is a one-day conference for professionalsin the vision loss field and people who are blind or visually impaired. Taking place on April 26\, 2022\, from 8:30am-4pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton Huntington\, the 2022 APH Huntington Impactful Living Summit will connect attendees to national and local content experts\, innovative\, life-changing access technologies\, and online resources. Featured speakers will include representatives from APH’s national office in Louisville\, APH Huntington\, and Cabell Wayne Association of the Blind Services Division (CWAB.) Special guest speakers include a former Yahoo accessibility specialist\, an education representative from Vispero\, GoodMaps’ user experience staff\, and more. DESCRIPTION:This month’s Writers Can Read series will feature the local authors Timothy Huguenin and Jeffrey Mangus. The event is free and open to the public and will take place on Monday\, May 16 at 7 P.M. in Heritage Station at 210 11th Street in downtown Huntington. \nTimothy G. Huguenin is a hillbilly writer of the strange and spooky\, hailing from the dark Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. His current books include When the Watcher Shakes\, which won the 2021 Indie Author Project regional award for West Virginia\, Little One\, and Unknowing\, I Sink. \nJeffrey Allen Mangus is president of LIMB LOSS LIFE LLC and the CEO of Ghostwriting USA. He has survived three life-threatening heart attacks\, quintuple heart bypass\, five amputations\, and sepsis. Mangus now speaks to other amputees across the world as a Certified Peer Visitor (CPV) through the Amputee Coalition of America. His book\, AMPossible offers real world solutions for amputees to accomplish the impossible. He lives in Hurricane\, WV. \nThe “Writers Can Read” open mic night reading series takes place on the third Monday of each month (all year) from 7:00-8:30 in Heritage Station at 210 11th Street in downtown Huntington\, West Virginia. The event features two award-winning\, published authors that serve as “featured readers” to begin the event each month.
