SUMMARY:Holiday Train Social
DESCRIPTION:the Collis P. Huntington Railroad Historical Society has organized four nights of the Holiday Train Social\, with Santa Claus and a host of holiday festivities. The Holiday Train Social is set for Saturday and Sunday\, Dec. 15-16\, and Dec. 22-23 with two events nightly at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. This non-moving stationary event with Santa will be taking place on two of the Society’s historic rail cars that will be parked over at the tracks by the floodwall (across from the Cabell Huntington Convention and Visitors Bureau\, 210 11th St.) Holiday Train Social tickets are $20 or $15 for children ages 2 to 13. Everyone will get hot chocolate and cookies and the kids will get a stuffed animal and a bell from Santa. There will be music and a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
 Tickets are now on sale for the train trips at www.newrivertrain.com. Folks can also call the office from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. toll free at 1-866-639-7487 or 1-304-523-0364.

DESCRIPTION:Each month Empire Books and News hosts Writers Can Read\, bringing together authors\, aspiring authors and those who just enjoy reading to share their works. Refreshments will be provided. The features writers this month are Natalie Sypolt and Torli Bush.\nNatalie Sypolt lives and writes in West Virginia. Her work has appeared in Glimmer Train\, Appalachian Heritage\, Still: The Journal\, among other fine journals. Natalie is the winner of the Glimmer Train New Writers Contest\, the Betty Gabehart Prize\, the West Virginia Fiction Award\, and Additionally\, Natalie serves as a literary editor for the Anthology of Appalachian Writers\, on the selection committee for the prestigious Weatherford Award in Fiction.\nTorli Bush is a poet from Webster Springs\, West Virginia. He is a mechanical engineering alumni from WVU and began his performing career in the spring of 2016 at Steel City Slam in Pittsburgh. He has since performed in several poetry slams\, most notably the 25th Annual Southern Fried Poetry Slam in Louisville\, KY in June of 2017. He was a 2018 panel feature at the West Virginia Governor’s School for Arts and has featured with Travelin Applachians Revue.

DESCRIPTION:the Collis P. Huntington Railroad Historical Society has organized four nights of the Holiday Train Social\, with Santa Claus and a host of holiday festivities. The Holiday Train Social is set for Saturday and Sunday\, Dec. 15-16\, and Dec. 22-23 with two events nightly at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. This non-moving stationary event with Santa will be taking place on two of the Society’s historic rail cars that will be parked over at the tracks by the floodwall (across from the Cabell Huntington Convention and Visitors Bureau\, 210 11th St.) Holiday Train Social tickets are $20 or $15 for children ages 2 to 13. Everyone will get hot chocolate and cookies and the kids will get a stuffed animal and a bell from Santa. There will be music and a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
