DESCRIPTION: The Marshall University School of Music’s MUsic Mondays series will continue with the third lecture of the fall series at 6:30 p.m. Monday\, Nov. 27\, at Cellar Door\, 905 3rd Ave.\, Huntington. \n\nThe event will explore the prelude as a piece of music and the various stylistic ideas it has taken on\, according to a news release.\n\n\nThe lecture looks at selected works by composers from across 400 years\, starting with Monteverdi in the 1500s and ending with Debussy in the early 1900s. Presenter Johan Botes\, assistant professor of piano at Marshall University\, said the prelude has had quite an interesting history as a musical work and deserves some research.\n\n\n\n\n\nA $10 donation is requested at the door\, with proceeds supporting the music program. The thrilling 8-second rides and heart-stopping wrecks make the PBR’s Velocity Tour one of the most exciting live sporting events to see.\nEach rider will face one bull in Round 1 on Friday and again in Round 2 on Saturday\, with the Top 10 scoring riders moving on to Saturday’s championship round. Put on your favorite princess or Nutcracker-themed costume and join Huntington Dance Theatre’s ballerinas for the annual Nutcracker Sweets Tea Party on Saturday\, December 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at Central Christian Church\, 1201 5th Avenue\, Huntington\, WV.\nThe cost for the party is $5 at the door\, and includes homemade sweets and refreshments\, crafts and a brief dance lesson with HDT company members. Many cast members from the Nutcracker will be there to mingle and take pictures with tea party guests.\nThis year’s Nutcracker performances will be held at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards Playhouse at 8 p.m. on Friday\, December 8 and Saturday\, December 9\, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday\, December 10.

DESCRIPTION:For two days\, some of the best bull riders in the world will battle the sport’s toughest bovine athletes. The thrilling 8-second rides and heart-stopping wrecks make the PBR’s Velocity Tour one of the most exciting live sporting events to see.\nEach rider will face one bull in Round 1 on Friday and again in Round 2 on Saturday\, with the Top 10 scoring riders moving on to Saturday’s championship round.
