SUMMARY:Night\, Mother - Virtual Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Night\, Mother by Marsha Norman will begin streaming tomorrow night featuring our Emerging Artists Showcase and student led production.\n\n\nHere’s Senior BFA Performance Major and Director of the first half of ‘Night\, Mother\, Moira Williamson:\n\n\n***\n\n\nMy biggest “Ah-Ha” moment was when the relationship between the two characters really felt like mother and daughter. In mother-daughter relationships\, there is always a bit of push and pull. Relationships are never one level (despite what it may seem like to Dad). There is love amongst the bickering\, but there are also tense moments of honesty that come out of the hurt. Watching Nikki and Kendra find those key moments together reminded me a bit of my own relationship with my mom and it helped us all to connect to the piece at a deeper level.\n\n\n***\n\n‘Night\, Mother will be available to stream \n\nApril 15-18 at 7:30 PM and April 18th at 2:00PM\n\n\nhttps://vimeo.com/event/876083\n\n\nPassword MUTheatre

SUMMARY:Portfolio 2021
DESCRIPTION:Portfolio 2021 opens at the Huntington Museum of Art April 17 and runs through May 16\, 2021\n\nPortfolio is designed to showcase the exemplary artwork of middle school and high school students in the Tri-State region of West Virginia\, Ohio\, and Kentucky. This year\, after a hiatus in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and continued health concerns\, the Portfolio 2021 exhibition has been reorganized to showcase the best senior high school student art. In limiting the exhibition it is our goal to meet CDC guidelines while still recognizing these young artists and their teachers\, creating an opportunity to participate in a high-quality exhibition within a museum setting and providing a venue for graduating students to build a portfolio for advanced study. Portfolio 2021 will not be juried this year\, rather each senior student will receive a small cash prize for their participation. One student will be selected for the Janet Bromley Excellence in the Arts Award to be chosen by the Museum’s Curator. We are optimistically hopeful to return to a full exhibition\, reception and award ceremony for Portfolio 2022. \nThis program is presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Department of Arts\, Culture and History\, and the National Endowment for the Arts\, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
