Lewis Community Center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday\, June 16.\nJuneteenth commemorates the day freedom was proclaimed to all slaves in the South by Union General Gordon Granger on June 19\, 1865\, in Galveston\, Texas\, more than two-and-a-half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln.\nHuntington’s Juneteenth Festival will include Zumba sessions from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; gospel music from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and local rap artists from 3 to 7 p.m. Food vendors and inflatables and activities for children will be available throughout the day.\nFor more information about the festival\, call Tonia Page at 304-654-8627.
