DESCRIPTION:Every Saturday in December our guests will have the opportunity to meet a few of our artisans. On the 15th\, Wayne County photographer Cindy Caroline will be on hand to discuss and sell her photography. \nCindy discussing what drives her photography:\n“As an artist\, I have two major goals related to my photographic endeavors. First\, I want to capture and share images that emphasize the natural beauty of God’s creation\, both locally and in a larger context. Many of my photographs were taken within a few miles of my home in Wayne County. From sweeping vistas of mountains and valleys all the way to the tiniest details found in tree bark\, moss\, or flowers\, I hope my photographs will inspire others to pause\, recognize\, reflect upon\, and appreciate their surroundings\, whether in their hometown or in a distant locale. \nSecond\, I want to utilize my photography skills to make meaningful contributions to my community. For example\, I’ve volunteered to take pictures during events such as a 5K race held on a local farm and a book signing and musical event hosted by a local author. Images from those events were shared with the participants free of charge. I have also donated images of scenes in Wayne County to the local public library\, the Wayne County Economic Development Authority\, and to a few charitable organizations. Additionally\, I take candid photographs at the local elementary school\, which are given to the students\, or are printed in the yearbook. I am a teacher at that school\, which I also attended as a student. I feel deeply rooted to this community\, and while I enjoy showcasing images from across West Virginia and surrounding regions\, focusing on photographing the people and places of Wayne County has enabled me to more fully recognize and appreciate the beauty that surrounds me\, just a few miles from home.” \nIn addition\, we will have Saturday-only discounts at The Red Caboose and a raffle.

DESCRIPTION:Tri-State Amateur Radio Association with the Museum of Radio and Technology are announcing the third annual “Get on the Air with Santa” event from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday\, Dec. 14\, at the Museum of Radio and Technology\, 1640 Florence Ave.\, in Huntington. \n\nEach child who comes to the museum will get to talk with Santa on the Amateur Radio Station or ‘Ham Shack’ at the museum. It is really hard to talk with Santa at this time of the year because he is hard at work preparing his list on who is naught or nice and making sure he has just the right toys for each child in the world. Even though he is hard at work\, he has granted us special permission to talk with him on Amateur Radio. Very few people know that Santa coordinates all his elves and helpers throughout the world by using Amateur Radio! It helps him keep up with everyone.\n\n\nThere will also be snacks\, crafts\, vintage video games\, singing\, classic movies and more for each child to do\, as well as touring the museum and the West Virginia Broadcasting Hall of Fame.\nAll Amateur Radio operators may join in live from their homes.
