DESCRIPTION:Connie Kinsey is a former military brat who has put down deep roots in a converted barn on a dirt road at the top of a hill in West Virginia. She is pursuing happiness\, one cup of coffee at a time. Her award-winning writing has been published online and in print. Stringer is the author of four full-length poetry collections\, most recently Asbestos Brocade\, from Salmon Poetry in Ireland. His work has appeared in journals such as Antaeus\, Poetry Northwest\, The Nation\, Colorado Review\, Ohio Review\, and others. His translations of Aime Cesaire have appeared in American Poetry Review. He also edited and introduced a new edition of Louise McNeill’s Paradox Hill for West Virginia University Press. He taught writing and literature at Marshall University for 25 years and lives in Huntington. \nThe “Writers Can Read” open mic night reading series takes place on the third Monday of each month (all year) from 7:00-8:30 in Heritage Station at 210 11th Street in downtown Huntington\, West Virginia. The event features two award-winning\, published authors that serve as “featured readers” to begin the event each month. Previous featured readers have included: Marc Harshman\, Denise Giardina\, Crystal Wilkinson\, Jonathan Corcoran\, Doug Van Gundy\, Robert Gipe\, Nick White\, and others.
