DESCRIPTION:Tone-Loc and Color Me Badd\nSaturday\, January 28\, 2023 | Doors 7pm | Show 8pm\nParamount Arts Center | Ashland\, KY\nTone-Loc (born Anthony Smith) soared from obscurity into pop stardom in 1989 when his hoarse voice and unmistakable delivery made the song “Wild Thing” (using a sample from Van Halen’s “Jamie’s Cryin'”) a massive hit. The song was co-written by Marvin Young\, better known as Young MC\, as was the second single smash\, “Funky Cold Medina.” The album Loc-ed After Dark became the second rap release ever to top the pop charts. Tone-Loc expanded his horizons into acting in 1992 and 1993\, appearing a\nfew times on the Fox sitcom Roc. He was also in the films Posse and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective\, and in 1991 returned to recording with Cool Hand Loc.\nColor Me Badd is an American contemporary R&B group that was formed in 1985 in Oklahoma City\, Oklahoma by Mark Calderon (born September 27\, 1970)\, Bryan Abrams (born November 16\, 1969)\, second tenor second tenor Sam Watters (born July 23\, 1970) and baritone Kevin Thornton (born June 17\, 1969). Color Me Badd broke up in 1998 before reuniting in 2010\, with various lineups since.

The North Alabama native possesses an incredible penchant for identifying and articulating some of the deepest\, yet simplest\, human emotions\, and turning them into beautiful poetry through song. Isbell sings of the everyday human condition with thoughtful\, heartfelt\, and sometimes brutal honesty. Isbell broke through in 2013 with the release of Southeastern. His next two albums\, Something More Than Free (2015) and The Nashville Sound (2017)\, won Grammy Awards for Best Americana Album & Best American Roots Song. Isbell’s song “Maybe It’s Time” was featured in the 2019 reboot of A Star Is Born.\nHis most recent full-length album\, Reunions (2020)\, is a critically-acclaimed collection of ten new songs that showcases an artist at the height of his powers and a band fully charged with creativity and confidence. In April of 2021\, it was announced that Isbell would appear in the upcoming Martin Scorsese film\, Killers of the Flower Moon.\nIn October 2021\, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit released a special new covers album\, Georgia Blue. Created to celebrate Georgia’s role in the 2020 election\, the record consists of new versions of thirteen songs with ties to the state\, including tracks originally recorded by Georgia natives R.E.M.\, Drivn’ N’ Cryin’\, James Brown\, Cat Power\, Precious Bryant\, Otis Redding\, The Black Crowes\, Indigo Girls\, Now It’s Overhead\, Gladys Knight & The Pips\, The Allman Brothers Band and Vic Chesnutt. All proceeds will benefit three non-profit organizations: Black Voters Matter\, Fair Fight and Georgia STAND-UP.\n————————————\nPeter One is a singer-songwriter from Côte d’Ivoire\, currently living and making music in Nashville\, TN. In the 1980s Peter One and his then duo partner Jess Sah Bi released their debut LP\, Our Garden Needs Its Flowers\, to mass appeal. The act quickly became one of the most popular bands not only in the Ivory Coast but all of broader West Africa\, filling stadiums and playing on television and radio across the continent on many occasions. Due to the violent political unrest and economic hardship in Côte d’Ivoire\, Peter immigrated to the US in the 90s to pursue his musical career. That plan was quickly derailed. Over the last 20 years\, Peter has worked as a nurse in the United States\, while slowly writing and recording music at home. He’s now finished his first new record in over three decades. Art will be displayed at the RWDSU Union Hall building (previously Magic Makers)\, near Harmony House where we serve a weekly meal to the community. The Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District announces details for the Father Daughter Valentine Dance.\nThe Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District would like to invite all Dads and Daughters to an evening of dancing the night away! The Father Daughter Valentine Dance will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the DoubleTree Hotel on Saturday\, February 11\, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.\nGuests will enjoy a special evening filled with dancing to the music of DJ Chad Midkiff of “DCM Pro Events.” Sweet treats will include fruit\, cookies\, cupcakes and more. Guests will also receive personalized event photos. At the end of the evening\, each daughter will receive a rose.\nWe hope you’ll make plans to join us for an unforgettable evening of making memories that will remain with your family for a lifetime. DESCRIPTION:The action is set in Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin\, Louisiana\, where all the ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant\, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married)\, the outspoken\, wise‐cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town’s rich curmudgeon\, Ouiser\, (“I’m not crazy\, I’ve just been in a bad mood for forty years”); an eccentric millionaire\, Miss Clairee\, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader\, M’Lynn\, whose daughter\, Shelby (the pretiest girl in town)\, is about to marry a “good ole boy.” Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions\, the play moves toward tragedy when\, in the second act\, the spunky Shelby (who is a diabetic) risks pregnancy and forfeits her life.
