Backlogs exist that date back decades and number in the thousands\, untested long past statute of limitations expire\, and allowing offenders to repeat and escalate dangerous criminal behavior.\nCurrently\, West Virginia is in the “statewide reform proposed” stage\, and is in the process of clearing a huge backlog thanks to efforts from organizations like the forensics center at Marshall University\, Huntington Police Department\, the WV State Police Forensics Lab\, and many others. We cannot rest until no backlogs exist nationwide!
