DESCRIPTION:When the 2018 Cabell County Public Library Gala is held March 24\, the evening will be filled with fun\, great entertainment\, wonderful food and wine\, but the event will also have a serious purpose. Proceeds from this year’s Gala will go to help build a new Barboursville Library.\nThe setting for the 2018 Gala will be the Don Morris Room at the Marshall University Student Center\, with a reception at 6:30pm. and a five-course gourmet dinner at 7pm. Entertainment for the evening will include the Barboursville Middle School Orchestra and the Cabell Midland Show Choir. The Menu will\, of course\, feature traditional Dutch fare\, with an appropriate wine accompanying each course: Tickets for the Gala are $200 per person\, with corporate tables encourages. DESCRIPTION:The Marshall University Center for African American Students is excited to announce plans for the traditional Carter G. Woodson Annual Soul Food Feast to be held at 2 p.m.\, Sunday\, Feb. 4 in the Memorial Student Center’s John Marshall Dining Room\, overlooking the beautiful campus of the university. \nThis annual celebration is a time of fellowship with friends\, family\, and others from throughout the community\, said Maurice Cooley\, Marshall’s associate vice president for intercultural affairs. \n“It is a joyful time to celebrate in the spirit of love while enjoying  the company  and conversation with family\, friends\, and others from throughout our community. Plan your appetite to indulge the best of “soul food” dishes\,” Cooley said.\nThe soulful buffet will include traditional African American dishes of chitterlings\, crispy fried chicken\, barbequed ribs\, mac and cheese\, collard greens\, candied yams\, potato salad\, beverages and an assortment of tasty desserts. \nTickets are $7.00 for students and $15 for adults. Tickets are available at the door or can be purchased in advance from the Office of Intercultural Affairs to avoid long lines.
