DESCRIPTION:The Annual Marshall Rec Urban Disc Golf Championship is back for 2026 and we are aiming to make this one bigger and better than ever! \nJoin us for an action-packed day of disc golf on Saturday\, March 28th\, featuring a course set across the scenic Marshall campus and athletic facilities. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a newcomer\, this exciting tournament promises two rounds of friendly competition with plenty of fun and camaraderie. \nThis event is a collaborative effort between the Marshall Recreation Center and Jonathan Wright from Maddog Disc Shop\, combining local expertise and a passion for the sport. But it’s more than just a game—your participation directly benefits the Recreation Center Student Development Fund\, which supports the growth and professional development of our student staff. This vital fund helps provide cash scholarships and offers financial assistance for leadership opportunities\, conference attendance\, and career development\, both within Campus Rec and beyond. Through these opportunities\, we are shaping the leaders of tomorrow. \nAll participants will receive an exclusive player’s pack\, including a custom Marshall themed disc\, event t-shirt\, and additional items from sponsors. Be sure to sign up by midnight on March 20th to guarantee your t-shirt! \n$45 Tournament Cost\n– $11 Players Pack\n– $4 Tournament Exp\n– $15 Charity\n– $15 Payout \nThe top 30% of each division will be paid out. All division will be paid out in gift cards through Maddog Disc Shop. All youth and female participants will receive a payout in their division.\nIn addition\, each participant will get 3 throws at the famous “POOL SHOT” inside the aquatic center at Marshall University. If ace is hit\, there will be a gift card or prize given away\nWe have requested that each participant include their UDisc username or email at time of registration. The scoring will be kept day of with UDisc. \nCome for the competition\, stay for the cause\, and help us create a lasting impact on the future of our student leaders!

DESCRIPTION:Homecoming week at Marshall University officially kicks off on Monday\, Sept. 25\, as faculty\, staff\, students\, family and alumni come together as the #MarshallUFamily\, in a bold display of unity\, inclusion and oneness. \nThe Unity Walk is a signature event\, taking place each year with a march around Marshall’s Huntington campus\, followed by food\, fellowship and fun. \n“The Unity Walk embodies the spirit of Marshall and the bond that we all share as members of the Marshall family\,” said Dr. Marcie Simms\, vice president of intercultural and student affairs. “It’s the perfect kickoff to Homecoming. To me\, Homecoming means friends\, family\, fun and food and the Unity Walk has all of this.” \nActivities start at 5 p.m. with a walk that begins at the Rec Center\, where half of the group will turn toward 3rd Ave. on 20th Street\, while the other half of the group turns toward 5th Ave. The two groups reunite on the Memorial Student Center Plaza\, where the winners of the Unity Walk’s Banner Contest will be revealed\, along with the announcement of Marshall’s Homecoming Court. \nThis year’s keynote speaker is West Virginia Del. Sean Hornbuckle\, who is also a Marshall alum and former student body president. He was also recently selected as the first African American minority leader in the House of Delegates. \n“Delegate Hornbuckle represents the essence of the Unity Walk\,” said Simms. “He continues to make strides to bring the Huntington community together and to be the voice for minorities at the state level.” \nSimms says the walk is an excellent opportunity for the Marshall community to step outside of offices and classrooms to embrace differences. She hopes more people take part in the walk\, which continues to expand each year. \n “I want students to leave this event feeling like they are part of the Marshall community\,” said Simms. “I want them to feel valued\, to feel safe and that they have connected with new people.” \nThe event is free and students\, alumni\, family and community members are welcome. Media are invited and encouraged to attend.
