SUMMARY:2020 Game Jam
DESCRIPTION:Marshall University’s Game Design Guild will host a 2020 Game Jam from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday\, Nov. 16-17\, in Room 1104 of the Weisberg Applied Engineering Complex. \nThe organizers of Game Jam aim to foster creativity and give people the opportunity to socialize and network with others interested in creating videogames. It is open to Marshall students\, faculty\, staff and community members. No experience is necessary. \nOver the weekend\, participants can collaborate with programmers\, artists\, designers and writers to create a videogame in two days. Participants can play the games\, talk about how games are created and learn more about becoming involved in Digital Humanities at Marshall. \n“Game Jam is an opportunity that brings together programmers\, game makers\, beginners\, artists and musicians in a venue that stimulates collaboration\, innovation\, and experimentation\,” said Dr. Julie Snyder-Yuly\, assistant professor of communication studies and interim director of digital humanities. “Digital humanities is pleased to be an ongoing sponsor of such a creative endeavor.” \nThe theme of this year’s event is Appalachia. \n“This year\, we really wanted to focus on the Appalachian region because of the interesting lore and the beauty of the area\,” said Izzy Bennett\, president of the Marshall University Game Design Guild. \nThe event is sponsored by the digital humanities program in the College of Liberal Arts and the computer and information technology program in the College of Science.\nFor more information\, contact Bennett by e-mail at bennett253@marshall.edu.
