Find Your Top Dog on the Huntington Hot Dog Trail
August 1, 2025National Hot Dog Month may have just ended, but here in Huntington, hot dogs are all the rave all year long.
With more than a handful of restaurants distinctly known for their dogs, Huntington has rightfully earned its name as the Hot Dog Capital of West Virginia, which is exactly why we created the Huntington Area Hot Dog Trail.
The Huntington Area Hot Dog Trail features nine local hot dog stands, all of which offer their own take on the American classic (and all of which are, coincidentally, delicious). From Hazlett’s Triple H Drive Inn of Lavalette to Hillbilly Hot Dogs of Lesage, the trail will take you all around the Huntington area and through decades of hot dog history. Read more about each stop on the trail here.
Taking the journey does not just help you find your favorite hot dog in our area, though; it also wins you prizes!
Get Started
First, you’ll need to create your free Huntington Area Hot Dog Trail account and download your free digital passport. You will use this passport to validate each stop along the trail by entering a site-specific password when making a purchase – this part is very important, as self-validated entries will get you disqualified, and you will not receive a prize! Be sure to ask your server for that business’s site-specific password.
Win Prizes
We know a great dog feels like a prize all in itself, but we wanted to reward all of the hard work that goes into determining your *wiener*.
Not a hot dog fan? We’ve got you covered. You can purchase any menu item at the stops on the trail and still check them off on your passport.
Eating at any five of the participating hot dog stands will qualify you for the official Hot Dog Trail sticker. Completing all nine stops will not only get you the sticker but also the official Hot Dog Trail t-shirt!
Once you’ve qualified for either the pin or the t-shirt, you can contact the Huntington Area CVB about your prizes. So, you do the eating – and the sharing on social media with #HuntingtonHotDogTrail – and we’ll take care of the rest.
Updates
Speaking of merchandise, we’ve got new items coming to you! Starting today, Hot Dog Trail participants will receive our new and improved pin and t-shirt with a design by none other than renowned West Virginia artist Liz Pavlovic! You may recognize Liz from her products currently being sold at The Red Caboose or from her posts on social media where she has shared her love of a good hot dog. Anyone is eligible for the new merchandise – even if you’ve completed the trail before.

Hot Dog Trail t-shirts and pins aren’t enough? We have some exciting changes headed your way. Keep an eye out for further updates beginning September 1!
