October 11, 2024They say a dog is man’s best friend, and Huntington agrees. You may have heard of the Open to All campaign that actively promotes an inclusive environment for all people in the city. Well, City Councilwoman, Ally Layman, coined the perfect twist for our pet-friendly businesses – Open to Paws! Check out this list highlighting businesses in the Huntington Area that allow pets inside or have designated areas for pet access.
Barboursville
Booktenders, located at 621 Central Avenue in Barboursville, is a bookstore started by two friends who previously bartended together. Their collection is for all ages and interests. They also offer a limited coffee, tea, and alcohol menus along with gifts and literary accessories.
1861 Public House and Köerber Brewing Company are sister businesses located across the street from Booktenders. 1861 describes itself as a gathering place for friends, family, neighbors, and anyone in search of a cold drink or bite to eat. KBC is a brand new microbrewery that frequently partners with local food trucks. Watch their social media to see who’s up next.
Orbit’s Record Shop, located at the intersection of Central Avenue and Main Street, who sells new and pre-owned vinyl, cassettes, CDs, collectibles, band tees, and more.
Huntington
Summit Beer Station, 321 9th Street, specializes in both import and craft beer. They have 20+ taps, more than 100 bottle options, cider, non-alcoholic beverages, and a limited cocktail menu. Try their rotating hot dog menu and enjoy the sunshine in the biergarten.
Nomada Bakery in Heritage Station brings you a journey of flavors that starts in grandma’s kitchen. Their flavors and techniques are inspired by Panama, Appalchia, their neighborhood, and everywhere in between. Share sweet treats with your pets indoors or out on the patio.
Enjoy a variety of businesses and food with your furry friends at The Market in downtown Huntington. They have indoor and outdoor seating available, and Austin’s Ice Cream even offers Pup Cups!
Like Nomada, Taps at Heritage is located in Heritage Station. This veteran-owned business is described as Huntington’s coolest craft beer & spirits bar with 16 taps, 50+ bottles and cans, cider, wine, and cocktails. Relax with your pet indoors at the Star Wars themed bar or outside on their deck nestled between train cars.
Heritage Station neighbor, Full Circle Gifts & Goods, is an independently owned small business offering unique gifts, art, live plants, and other items created by a diverse network of other small businesses and individual makers from all across the United States. Expect to see two shop dogs, T-Man and Willie, when you stop by.
Additional downtown restaurants that allow pets in their outdoor seating area are Black Sheep Burrito & Brews, Le Bistro, Marshall Hall of Fame Cafe, and Oscar’s Breakfast, Burgers & Brews in Barboursville.
