The Kenova Pumpkin House
October 21, 2025If you were to ask any West Virginian what they associate most with Halloween, you’d get many answers — Mothman, Moundsville, mountains (of course), but among all of those M’s you’d find a single K: Kenova. More specifically, the Kenova Pumpkin House!

In 1978 the soon-to-be pumpkin connoisseur Ric Griffith carved a handful of jack-o-lanterns with his family and sat them outside on his porch. Normal enough, right? Well, it quickly spiraled into something of an obsession — just an extra pumpkin here, a few there, then more and more until they were lining the roof and railing. That was just no way to live, and Ric, being a smart man, knew this. After all, where was he supposed to fit his new pumpkins next year?
That revelation prompted the purchase of National Historic Landmark, 748 Beech Street, in 1991. What was once a family affair grew to churches, schools, and visitors contributing. Today, Ric’s orange magnum opus draws upwards of 30,000 visitors every Halloween season! If you want to hear the story in a little more detail, click here.

With 3,000 pumpkins on display drawing thousands of visitors every day, the towns of Ceredo and Kenova took notice and created an entire festival around the Pumpkin House – C-K Autumnfest!
C-K Autumnfest

Now entering its 16th year, C-K Autumnfest is a hallmark of the season. Born from the passion of one family and the love of a community, little else comes close to the charm, hospitality, and fun offered to wrap up the Halloween season. You can enjoy food, games, classic cars, live music, the craft show at the community center, and more. Bring the kids for special activities, and stop by to watch the parade!
Don’t miss out because it only runs from October 18th to October 31st!
