History Alive! Presents Walt Disney @ 7 PM: A great evening program at Beech Fork finds James Froemel of Maidsville, WV portraying Walt Disney. Though Walt Disney’s name has become synonymous with the monumentally successful company he created, a young Walt Disney struggled to create an animation company in Chicago, Illinois and Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Los Angeles, California in 1923. After losing the rights to some of his early animated characters, he finally struck Hollywood gold with the creation of Mickey Mouse and received Academy Awards for two short films in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s. His ambitions in animation were finally realized with the 1937 release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which became, in its day, the highest grossing sound film of all time! Join us at 7:00 p.m. in the Beech Fork State Park activities building. The program is free to attend and open to the public. History Alive! is made possible by the West Virginia Humanities Council and the West Virginia State Park system. Attendees arriving wearing Mickey Mouse ears or a bow tie may win a prize!
Night Hike @ 8:30 PM: Meet in front of the camper’s corner store for a fun hike on the Nature Trail! Wear comfortable shoes and get ready to observe the forest as night approaches.
