Art Society Talk "Designing Handmade Glass Production in the Mechanized World"

April 30, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$10

Emma Walters and Andrew ShafferDesigning Handmade Glass Production in the Mechanized World
Trained hands and experienced minds are the essential tools needed for handmade production, yet these age-old skills are becoming scarce in an ever-increasing mechanized world. The preservation of this hand-knowledge becomes more necessary than ever, as we must remember these skills of our past and surround ourselves with objects imbued with expression, personality and imperfections- objects screaming that we are Human. Shaffer and Walters recently moved to Huntington and are designers for Blenko Glass Co. in Milton, WV.
The Huntington Area Art Society presentation series is sponsored by the Marshall University College of Arts and Media and the School of Art & Design. All are welcome, however, seating is limited. Participants are invited to arrive early to choose a seat and enjoy conversation with the presenters and other attendees. A $10 donation is requested. Proceeds support programming in the School of Art & Design. The event is free with a current Marshall ID. Please encourage your friends, neighbors, and colleagues to join you. This is the final Art Society talk of the Spring series. For more information about the Huntington Area Art Society presentation series, contact art@marshall.edu or call 304-696-6760.
