April 2, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
$10During the 1970s Chris Petteys established herself as a collector of women artists, gathering significant works on paper by Mary Cassatt, Käthe Kollwitz, and Louise Nevelson among others. This presentation will examine three facets of what she described as the “new matronage”: art collecting, scholarship, and institution building within a feminist context. Gilderhus is an art historian and Acting Dean in the College of Performing and Visual Arts at the University of Northern Colorado. This talk is supported by the Edwards Distinguished Professor in the Arts endowment in the College of Arts and Media; no donations will be accepted for this talk.
