Experience Music: Kids & Traditional Music

October 16 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free
See traditional music come alive, build a folk instrument, tour an acoustic instrument zoo (see guitars, mandolins, banjos, fiddles, and upright bass, flutes, whistles, drums, and percussion), play with the band, learn ways to write a song, and learn some history of Appalachian Music.
Sit back and enjoy the music outside with a live performance at 2:00 PM.

Drop-in Learning:
Kids will be able to see and hear instruments from the region, share with real songwriters their stories, and try their hand at performing!
Learn the history of traditional music on the Ohio River and how it travels!
Music Play:
Make your own drum, dulcimer, or shaker with what you have- just like our ancestors!
Make up your own song and have fun!
Ask a musician:
Where does our music come from? What’s it like to be on stage? What makes music? How does music help us? Hear stories of the stage from real songwriters and performers and how to be brave and create!
Maggie Moore, Ed.D. is a singer/songwriter and a certified teacher in West Virginia. She brings her musical partner Ricky G Fox and BRATCAMB band members Eric Fout and Warren Owings to share the power and play of acoustic music! Kids will be able to see and hear instruments from the region, share with real songwriters their stories, and try their hand at performing! Maggie works for the Center for Human Engagement, a non-profit teaching lifelong creativity, and resilient growth.
