HMOA’s 6th Annual Fine Art Auction

October 16, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Huntington Museum of Art will conduct its 6th Annual Fine Art Auction fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at 2 p.m. as an online and in-person event. A preview of the auction items takes place at HMA on Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Masks and social distancing are recommended at this event.

The museum is proud again to be partnering with Garth’s Auctioneers & Appraisers of Columbus, Ohio, for this event. The works included in the sale were consigned by generous members and supporters of the Museum and can be viewed at the following link:

“With bids on some items starting as low as $25, we have more than 180 lots in this year’s Fine Art Auction, including paintings, prints, glass, ceramics and folk art,” said HMA Executive Director Geoffrey K. Fleming. “This event is an important fundraiser for the Huntington Museum of Art. You can purchase a work of art that you can enjoy in your home for years while supporting HMA at the same time.”

Some of the highlights of this year’s sale include a dozen glass and ceramic pieces by noted West Virginia glass artist Kelsey Murphy; an exceptional Tiffany & Company sterling silver chocolate pot in the Rococo style after a model by Francois Thomas Germain (1726 – 1791); several lovely paintings by folk artist Josette Bardoux (French, b. 1950); two paintings by noted Huntington illustrator Chuck Ripper (American, 1929 – 2019); and a large selection of studio ceramic vessels, including a magnificent piece of raku by Paul Soldner (American, 1921 – 2011).

A buyer’s premium of 15 percent will be added to all successful bids executed in-house, and a buyer’s premium of 20 percent will be added to all successful bids made on the Invaluable website during this event.

Successful local bidders can begin to pick up their auction items the afternoon of Oct. 16 until 6 p.m. After Oct. 16, successful local bidders can pick up works on Oct. 18 after 1 p.m. Please call (304) 529-2701 to schedule a pick-up time. Successful online bidders who need to arrange and pay for shipping can work with the UPS Store in Ashland, Ky., where HMA will deliver the works.

A significant amount of proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the Huntington Museum of Art. For more information on events at HMA, visit or call (304) 529-2701. HMA is fully accessible.

West Virginia residents may obtain a summary of the registration and financial documents from the Secretary of State, State Capitol, Charleston, WV 25305. Registration does not imply endorsement.
