Huntington Children’s Museum’s Third Annual SandFest
September 15 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Looking for some fun in the sand and sun, but can’t make it to the beach? Huntington Children’s Museum and Marshall University are teaming up to bring the beach to you! Plan to join us at our third annual SandFest on Sunday, September 15 from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Memorial Fountain behind the MU Student Center. Marshall student groups and local businesses will compete in a tabletop sand sculpture competition to see who will win the Golden Shovel award. In addition to the sand sculpture competition, families can expect a sand pit, sandcastle making stations, STEAM activities and more! This event is free and designed to be fun for all ages!
Proceeds raised during SandFest will benefit Huntington Children’s Museum. Huntington Children’s Museum, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is located at 1700 Washington Ave Huntington, WV 25704. Since the museum opened on Saturday, July 13, 2024, thousands of visitors have experienced HCM’s STEAM-focused indoor learning space where exhibits and activities cater to children’s specific interests and abilities. Children ages one to ten and their grown-ups explore carefully crafted, kid-tested environments where worries are not wasted on potentially breakable items or noise, messes are appreciated, and learning is a byproduct of play. Children explore, experiment, create, and discover through play while developing problem-solving skills and building resilience. The museum features a water table, interactive sand table, indoor climbing area, stop-motion video creation station, and kid-size city.
