Huntington Empty Bowls 2018
April 13, 2018 @ 10:30 am - 2:30 pm
$15The 15th Annual Empty Bowls event will take place 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 1015 Fifth Ave.
The Marshall University partnership that marries art and goodwill is a collaboration of many serves that one purpose: to feed many more. All proceeds benefit Facing Hunger Foodbank (www.facinghunger.org), a Huntington-based non-profit that serves nearly 116,000 individuals monthly in 16 counties across West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio.
This year, the purchase of one $15 bowl will provide 112.5 meals to our community.
Peruse hundreds of beautiful pottery pieces—our empty bowls—handcrafted by Marshall University art students and local artisans. Purchase a bowl and speak with Marshall ceramic students while they carefully wrap your purchase for easy transport.
Each bowl purchase also includes one ticket to the soup-kitchen style meal of soup, bread, and drink. Luckily, the company is often jovial and the soups delicious, which makes it easier to forget that the modest portions and single-file line aren’t your run-of-the-mill lunch out.
This initiative would be unlikely without the partnerships of Marshall University, Keramos Potters’ Guild, local artisans, Christian Associates, B’nai Sholom Congregation and First Presbyterian Church, and without the donations from more than two dozen local individuals and businesses, yet it would be impossible without you.
