Huntington International Jazz Festival – Lecture: What Is Jazz? & The Photographs of Herman Leonard

From 7pm to 8pm the Huntington Museum of Art begins the International Jazz Festival with a lecture by Jazz at Lincoln Center Education Director, Setin Hawkins, who will take participants on a galvanizing discussion of What Jazz Music Is, Understanding Jazz Music, and What They Can Expect from the inaugural performances at the Huntington International Jazz Festival and the Ellis Marsalis International Jazz Piano Competition.
Following the lecture there will be an advanced premiere of Jazz Lives, an exhibition of the photographs of legendary Jazz photographer of Herman Leonard, hosted by the Huntington Museum of Art and features for one evening only, an interactive presentation format with musicians playing selected works, portrait side, of artists represented in the photographs
Marshall is hosting the jazz competition and festival in partnership with the Nu Jazz Agency, an international jazz music management, marketing, promotions, booking, distribution and arts consulting company.
