“In His Nature: Botanical Prints” Gallery Tour
October 22 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Huntington Museum of Art Conservatory Director Josh Hamrick will speak about the artworks in the exhibit titled “In His Nature: Botanical Prints from the Collection of Dr. Marion C. Korstanje” on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at 6 p.m. Admission to this 4th Tuesday Tour Event is free. Refreshments will be served.
“I have enjoyed researching the art in our Korstanje Botanical Collection and working with HMA Senior Curator/Exhibition Designer John Farley to co-curate this current exhibit,” Hamrick said. “I am looking forward to sharing some of the interesting facts that I have learned about the botanical prints, the artists who created the works, and the plants that are represented. Many of these illustrations relate to plant species found in the C. Fred Edwards Conservatory or on the Museum’s hiking trails, thereby making connections between person and place, observation and perception, artmaking and scientific inquiry.”
This exhibit continues on view through Feb. 9, 2025. “From the prodigious collection of more than 250 artworks given to the Museum by the late Dr. Korstanje, 40 botanical prints have been thoughtfully selected for their aesthetic beauty and their contributions to greater scientific understanding of our world,” Farley said.
