Experience the Juneteenth Festival at the A.D. Lewis Community Center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 16.
Juneteenth commemorates the day freedom was proclaimed to all slaves in the South by Union General Gordon Granger on June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, more than two-and-a-half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln.
Huntington’s Juneteenth Festival will include Zumba sessions from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; gospel music from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and local rap artists from 3 to 7 p.m. Food vendors and inflatables and activities for children will be available throughout the day.
