Huntington Children’s Museum Celebrates Worldwide Day of Play with Free “Let’s Get Corny! – A Fall Festival for Littles”
Huntington Children’s Museum is inviting families to get a little corny in celebration of Worldwide Day of Play with Let’s Get Corny!, a special day of hands-on play, creativity and exploration.
The event will take place Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Huntington Children’s Museum, 1700 Washington Avenue. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Barboursville and Marshall University Libraries, admission will be free from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Throughout the Museum, families will discover carnival-inspired activities that put a corny twist on science, art, movement, math and imaginative play. Children can experiment with oobleck, create their own corny masterpiece, test their estimating skills by guessing the number of corn kernels, and take on a corn cob ring toss and can toss. The day will also feature a paper airplane challenge, sensory bins, and plenty of corny jokes.
“Play can look simple from the outside, but so much is happening when children are given the freedom to explore, experiment and use their imaginations,” said Raine Klover, Executive Director of Huntington Children’s Museum. “Worldwide Day of Play gives us an opportunity to celebrate all the different ways children learn through play — and to have a lot of fun doing it. We’re incredibly grateful to the Rotary Club of Barboursville and Marshall University Libraries for helping us make the celebration free for families.”
