Madie Carroll House Tours

November 2 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Carroll House will be open for tours and presentations, Saturday, November 2, noon to 5 and Sunday, November 3, noon to 4 during Guyandotte Civil Ear Days. Come see our Historic site and our Rick Whisman Civil War Museum. On Sunday after the reenactment, come watch Mary Carroll save her home from being burnt by Federal troops. Historical presentations throughout the day: Civil War Museum; the Confederate Raid on the Federal Recruiting Camp; period scribes; Jenkins Family; Underground Railroad Harmonica tones (4 pm Saturday); James Major Monroe’s Escape from Slavery; and fiber arts/ crochet/knitting. School students are welcome with their chaperones to visit the site Friday, November 1, for the above presentations plus Jim Hale talking about his Polly Family freedom seekers’ story.
