Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.
Visit the Memorial Arch at 1300 W Eleventh Avenue and see the only Triumphant Arch of it’s type in West Virginia, built to honor Veterans of WWI. A Wreath laying ceremony with speakers will take place at 11am.
Take a walk through Spring Hill Cemetery and pay respects to our veterans with war memorials. With the highest number of Veterans per capita in West Virginia than any other State, Spring Hill Cemetery is proud to honor Veterans of all the Wars in various dedicated areas on the Grounds. The Stars & Stripes wave in the breeze over one of the most historic Veterans sections in the State and each Veterans grave is decorated with its own flag on Memorial Day.
