Older Than Bones Reception

Marshall University School of Art & Design is proud to present Older than Bones: Scenes From Our Mountains featuring works from Chris DeMaria of Floyd, VA, and Brandy Jefferys of Huntington, WV. The two create colorful, textural paintings of scenes in Appalachia, featuring people, place, and things found there. Playing on the spectrum of kitsch and social realism, their work speaks to Appalachian identity and the perceptions thereof.
Please join us in celebrating the immersive works created during an opening reception on Friday, May 17 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Birke Art Gallery located on the first floor of the Visual Arts Center at 927 Third Ave, Huntington, WV.
The exhibition will be on view from May 9 through June 14, 2024.
Gallery admission and events are free and open to all.
Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
