“Spooky Night with Japanese Kwaidan” featuring renowned storyteller Karin Amano

The Japanese Program in the Department of Modern Languages and the Japan Club at Marshall University will host a special cultural event, Spooky Night with Japanese Kwaidan, from 4 until 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 21, in Smith Hall 154.
This free event is open to the public and features a rare live performance by Karin Amano, a celebrated Japanese storyteller known for her appearances at the Japanese Pavilion in Epcot at Disney World.
The evening will include a screening of the classic 1964 film Snow Woman from the Japanese horror anthology Kwaidan, Amano’s performance of a traditional ghost story and a Halloween karaoke party hosted by the Japan Club.
EVENT SCHEDULE:
• 4:00 p.m. – Introduction to Japanese Kwaidan (ghost stories)
• 4:10 p.m. – Screening of Snow Woman (from Kwaidan, 1964)
• 5:00 p.m. – Live storytelling by Karin Amano (first appearance at Marshall!)
• 5:30 p.m. – Q&A with light snacks
• 5:45 – 9:00 p.m. – Halloween Karaoke Party with Japan Club
