The V Club family is crushed by the news of the passing of local music legend Bob Zilla, who died of a heart attack Monday. To say he was larger than life is an understatement. Who else has a near music festival as an annual birthday party? Zilla Bash celebrates not only he and his beloved Cheri’s birthday week but their love of fostering new bands in our area. We booked Bob’s band Moonshine Crossing early and often. Many times for charity shows as Moonshine Crossing and Bob were always the first to line up to help someone. Bob was always the first to smile at ya, hug ya, wrestle ya, buy a shot for ya, cheer your band on and the last one to leave. As Chad Lovejoy said “if he was your friend, he would march into the gates of hell after he gave you the shirt off his back.” We can’t bring Bob back but we can all try and love good people, good times and good music with a brave heart like Zilla.
