Fairfield Community Development Corporation (“FCDC”) is a 501(c)(3) that was created after the City of Huntington received the America’s Best Community Award and is funded by Foundation of the Tri-State.  The Fairfield CDC consists of stakeholders from the Fairfield neighborhood, Marshall University, Cabell Huntington Hospital, the City of Huntington, and the Huntington Housing Authority. FCDC’s mission is to advance and unify the Fairfield community through community development, redevelopment, and economic development activities to enhance the physical, economic, health, safety, welfare, and social aspects of all residents. Our vision is to serve as the community hub in making the Fairfield community a close-nit, safe and nurturing place for families, businesses, and neighborhoods to grow and thrive. We are here to serve residents regardless of their economic status, ethnicity, race, gender, age, and/or sexual orientation.

The Fairfield CDC the focus on five key areas of improvement for the Fairfield Area and below is a breakdown of how the money raised from the race will fit into those areas:

This year we have a fundraising goal of $15,000.

  • Health & Wellness – $1,000 towards Heath awareness programming in the community (mental, physical, and social)
  • Education – $5,000 towards youth education: civic engagement, empower and educate low income, disadvantaged at-risk youth to succeed, and scholarships for kids in the Fairfield Community
  • Housing – $5,000 towards our Fairfield Rebuild and Revive program. We have created a program that will work towards improving housing in the Fairfield Community
  • Jobs & Economic Development – $3,000 towards workforce training
  • Safety – $1,000 towards community safety awareness programming.

We look forward to hosting the 3rd Annual Juneteenth “Race for Equality” 5K Walk/Run in commemoration of the JUNETEENTH and the CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM here in Huntington, WV.
