Artist Talk and Reception | Residence Time
September 5 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Marshall University School of Art & Design is pleased to present Residence Time, a solo exhibition by interdisciplinary artist Kelley O’Brien, in the Charles W. & Norma C. Carroll Gallery. This mixed media installation exposes the unseen violence of industrial pollution in Greensboro, highlighting the contamination of the Cape Fear River Basin with dioxane 1,4, a carcinogen that remains unregulated. Through the use of scent, sound, and kinetic sculptures, the exhibit immerses viewers in the stark reality of environmental neglect, prompting reflection on the broader implications of local actions on human health and environment.
O’Brien will give an artist talk on Thursday, September 5 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in VAC 209, followed by a closing reception from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the gallery.
The exhibition is on view from July 19 through September 5, 2024 in the Carroll Gallery, located on the first floor of the Visual Arts Center at 927 3rd Ave, Huntington, WV.
Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Admission to the gallery and all events are free and open to the public.
