“Eggciting Egg Hunt” Returns for Children who have Disabilities and Their Families
An Inclusive, Adaptive Spring Celebration Hosted by DTC and GHPRD
The Developmental Therapy Center (DTC), in partnership with the Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District (GHPRD), is excited to announce the return of the Eggciting Egg Hunt—a free, adaptive egg hunt designed specifically for children who have disabilities and their siblings.
This inclusive, sensory-friendly event will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at St. Cloud Commons Lodge & All-Inclusive Playground, located at 1701 Jackson Avenue, Huntington, WV 25704.
“At Developmental Therapy Center, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do,” said Leslie Comer-Porter, Executive Director of Developmental Therapy Center. “The Eggciting Egg Hunt is a celebration of every child’s right to play, explore, and feel connected—no matter their abilities. It’s a joyful event that brings families together in a truly meaningful way.”
In addition to adaptive egg hunts, families will enjoy a variety of engaging activities, including:
• Complimentary refreshments provided by Jack and the Bean
• Inflatables and crafts
• Balloon animals with Peanuts the Clown
• Itty Bitty Therapy Horses
Children can be registered for one of several thoughtfully designed egg hunt experiences:
• Quiet Bunny: A calm egg hunt for children with sensory sensitivities
• Bunny Tail: An accessible hunt for children who use wheelchairs or have limited mobility
• Peep Peep: A beeping egg hunt for children with visual impairments
• Every Bunny Welcome: A traditional-style egg hunt for children with other disabilities and their siblings
The event is free, but pre-registration is required to ensure a personalized and enjoyable experience for every child.
