Hairspray at The Paramount
April 18 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

HAIRSPRAY IS BACK! A vibrant and high-energy Broadway musical set in 1960s Baltimore, centered around the life of Tracy Turnblad, a plucky, plus-size teenager with big dreams of dancing on a popular TV show called The Corny Collins Show. Tracy, who is passionate about social justice and breaking down racial barriers, battles through prejudice and body image issues to become a star.
The show explores themes of self-acceptance, equality, and the power of inclusivity, all wrapped up in infectious tunes and catchy choreography. Tracy’s journey brings her into contact with a diverse cast of characters, including her supportive but quirky family, her best friend Penny, and the smooth-talking Corny Collins, as well as the stunning and rebellious Seaweed.
With music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, and a book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan, Hairspray is a colorful, feel-good musical filled with humor, heart, and a message that celebrates individuality and diversity. It won multiple Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and has become a beloved classic for audiences of all ages.
It’s been 14 years since the Paramount Players first brought this iconic, high-energy musical to life on our stage!
There will be two evening performances, both at 7:30PM, taking place Friday, April 18th and Saturday, 19th.
