History Alive at Beech Fork State Park : Colonel Ruby Bradley

July 17, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Sharing West Virginia’s history at Beech Fork State Park includes History Alive! evenings throughout the summer. Join us at the park activity building for a first-person portrayal of Colonel Ruby Bradley by Becky Park of Charleston, WV.

About this military veteran:

When Bradley retired from the U.S. Army in 1963 she was the most decorated woman in American military history. A native of Spencer, West Virginia, Bradley was captured by the Japanese in the Philippines in 1941 and was a POW until 1945. She continued her work as a nurse in the prison camp. She was named Chief Nurse for the Eighth Army in 1951 and supervised over 500 nurses in Korea. Bradley attained the rank of Colonel in 1958. Portrayed by Becky Park of Charleston.

This presentation is a History Alive! program of the West Virginia Humanities Council and the West Virginia State Park system. There is no fee to attend, and the program is open to the public.
