Spring Hill Cemetery Celebrates 150th Anniversary with Special Event
Spring Hill Cemetery, a historic landmark established on September 21, 1874, by the City of Huntington, will mark its 150th anniversary with a special event on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The celebration will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will feature a variety of activities and attractions for visitors of all ages.
The cemetery, named for an old Spring House once located near its earliest graves, has been an integral part of the community for a century and a half. To commemorate this milestone, the anniversary event will include:
• Refreshments: Enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages throughout the event.
• Photo Contest: Capture the beauty and history of Spring Hill Cemetery. The photo contest, which starts on August 19, 2024, and ends on September 18, 2024, will feature categories celebrating the cemetery’s scenic and historical aspects. Winners will be announced on September 21, 2024, during the anniversary event.
• Sales and Specials: Take advantage of special offers and sales from September 21, 2024, to November 1, 2024.
• Historical Tours and Exhibits: Explore the cemetery with informative tents set up at various points of interest. Knowledgeable guides will provide historical insights and answer questions about the cemetery’s rich heritage.
