Stories from the Cellar: Starting Over (A StorySLAM event)

Join us for “Stories From The Cellar,” a Huntington Comedy Story Slam event! The theme of the show is “Starting Over.”
Do you have a true story about new beginnings? Taking a leap of faith? Leaving all you know behind? We want to hear you tell it! All story tellers welcome! Come with your best 5 minute story to share with the crowd and our judges.
Just show up, fill out a short form, and we’ll pick 10 contestants to tell their stories.
GUIDELINES for telling a story:
✔ Keep it to 5 minutes or less. A light will flash once at 4 minutes (to let you know you have 1 minute left). A light will flash twice at five minutes. Don’t go over.
✔ Your story must be true and must have happened to you. You have to be one of the main characters of the story.
✔ Don’t use racist, homophobic, sexist speech or any kind of hate speech. Foreign accents for a laugh or making someone’s identity the punchline of a joke will get you disqualified.
✔ The story has to be related to the theme!
✔ You can’t use any props or notes. Your story should be from memory!
While the event is presented by Huntington Comedy, your stories can be as somber or funny as you choose. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
