Workshop: Interpretive Tour Refresh
April 3 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Do your museum tours need a refresh? Or does your institution need to build interpretive tours from the ground up?
In this hands-on workshop, Katie Thompson will walk you through the steps of building a thematic interpretive tour to fit the needs of your institution. Participants will work on actual tours for their museums, but also learn the building blocks to create future tours as well.
Participants will work on:
~identifying the key information that they want visitors to learn during the tour
~determining the main theme and sub-themes to guide the tour
~outlining tour stops and organizing key information to flow in a clear narrative
~aligning tour with the larger mission of the institution
Participants should plan to bring relevant information and documents to the workshop, including mission statements and foundational documents, current tour information, key historical information that you want included in your tour, photos of your space if you want to discuss objects to focus on during interpretation, etc.
