Arts Night Out – August Edition

August 8, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

The August Edition of Arts Night Out is going to be a glorious celebration of contemporary Appalachian creatives! We will welcome artists from the state including Charleston, St. Albans, and Thomas.

First Congregational United Church of Christ will again host a community drum circle to kick off the evening. Bring your own instrument or use one of ours! Not up for making a joyful noise? You can enjoy dinner on the patio (Let’s Eat, Sip, and Moonlight Cookies are all excellent choices) to soak up the warm summer night air.

The Visitors Center will be hopping all evening. Ceramicist Allora McCullough set up in the lobby with her gorgeous modern pieces. Huntington Fiction Factory will host writer Brock Nicholson who will discuss Writing For Comics and Graphic Novels. He will cover two topics, Writing Imagery, in which he’ll discuss the comic writer’s responsibility and goals with regard to the final art, and Writing Superheroes, in which he’ll discuss some of the genre conventions of superheroes and how to work with those conventions while still telling interesting stories.

Ready to slow down? We have three excellent visual art exhibitions to view at The Red Caboose, Moonlight Cookies, and Sip Wine & Whiskey Bar. End your evening on Tap’s patio enjoying a craft beer or cider. A perfect end to a perfect Huntington evening.
