Join us at the Charles W. & Norma C. Carroll Gallery in the Visual Arts Center for the reception of Beings in the Space Between, featuring work by John Chang and Ross Junior Owusu. Enjoy an evening of art, refreshments, and community, starting at 5pm, during the Downtown Huntington Art Walk.
Marshall University School of Art & Design invites the public to the reception of Beings in the Space Between, hosted at the Visual Arts Center, during the Downtown Huntington Art Walk.
The exhibition combines works by John Chang and Ross Junior Owusu, who uses mixed media, ceramics, and paintings to explore their experiences of shifting identities after immigrating to the United States from China and Ghana. Born and raised in Shanghai, John Chang is a Southern California–based artist whose work integrates traditional calligraphic marks with contemporary media, such as newspapers, to capture flashes of memory from lives lived across multiple places. Joining John Chang is Ross Junior Owusu, a Ghanaian mixed-media artist and educator whose practice examines themes of identity, migration, and cultural memory. Together, their distinct yet intersecting perspectives offer a powerful visual reflection on belonging, place, and transition.
